Google Expands Cheaper AI Plus Plan to Over 40 Countries

By

Google has expanded its $5 AI Plus plan to over 40 countries, including Uganda, Kenya, and Nigeria. The subscription unlocks Gemini 2.5 Pro, creative AI tools, NotebookLM features, and 200GB of storage, making premium AI more affordable worldwide.

Google has rolled out its affordable AI Plus plan to more than 40 countries, including Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Indonesia, Mexico, and Vietnam.

The plan, which launched in Indonesia earlier this month at around $4.50 per month, is priced at about $5 in most regions. In select markets such as Nepal and Mexico, Google is offering a 50% discount for the first six months.

AI Plus gives users access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, creative tools like Flow, Whisk, and Veo 3 Fast, and advanced features in NotebookLM. It also integrates AI into Gmail, Docs, and Sheets, while bundling 200GB of cloud storage.

The move comes shortly after OpenAI expanded its own ChatGPT Go plan (under $5) to Indonesia. Interestingly, India, where OpenAI first launched its cheaper tier, is not on Google’s rollout list.

By introducing these lower-cost subscriptions, both Google and OpenAI are aiming to make premium AI tools more accessible in markets where the standard $20 monthly plan is too expensive for many users.
